Up your dolphin Ante

Train your breath. Train your mind. Become Harder to Kill™.

Harder to Kill™ isn’t about becoming dangerous. It’s about becoming adaptable.

For over a decade, Harder to Kill™ has been the philosophy underpinning Apnea Survival. It was born from the understanding that survival has very little to do with aggression and everything to do with adaptability. Nature has always known this. The creatures that thrive aren’t necessarily the biggest or the strongest. They’re the ones that learn, adapt and respond most effectively to change. That’s why our symbol became the dolphin.

The dolphin doesn’t survive because it dominates the ocean. It survives because it understands it. It moves efficiently. Breathes deliberately. Remains calm under pressure. Works with its pod. Recovers quickly. Adapts constantly. At Apnea Survival we believe these same qualities exist within every one of us.

Our mission is to help you rediscover them.

“Water based training and breath holds are perhaps one of the most underutilised, yet possibly most versatile and effective conditioning tools in the high-performance toolbox.”

More than a training squad

The Tweed Apneanauts are far more than a weekly breath hold session.

We’re a community of surfers, freedivers, athletes, climbers, runners, first responders,
military personnel, health professionals, business owners and everyday people committed
to becoming more capable under pressure.

Originally established to prepare surfers for hold downs and heavy water, the Apneanauts
have evolved into a complete human performance community.

Today we train anyone wanting to improve their breathing, resilience, recovery, movement,
decision-making and ability to remain calm when life becomes unpredictable. Because
pressure exists everywhere.

  • In the ocean.
  • On the sporting field.
  • At work.
  • At home.
  • In relationships.
  • In business.
  • In emergency situations.
  • Life doesn’t care where pressure finds you.

Our Training prepares you for when it does.

The Apneanaut Philosophy

Most people think we just teach breath holds. But we don’t. Breath holds are simply one of
the tools we use to teach awareness. The real lesson is learning how to organise yourself
when your body begins to experience discomfort.

  •  Every breath teaches awareness.
  •  Every breath hold teaches composure.
  •  Every recovery breath teaches resilience.

Over time these lessons become transferable to every aspect of life. The goal isn’t simply to hold your breath longer. The goal is to become calmer. Think clearer. Recover faster. Move more efficiently.

And become progressively Harder to Kill™.

What we train

Every session draws from across the Apnea Survival system, including:

Functional breathing retraining

  • Full Lung Breathing™
  • Breath hold development
  • Recovery breathing
  • Nervous system control
  • Controlled stress exposure
  • Pool based apnea drills
  • Surf specific conditioning
  • Movement efficiency
  • Teamwork, communication and safety

Everything has one purpose. To Build humans who perform better under pressure.

Why we train

Pressure doesn’t build character. Pressure reveals it. When things become chaotic, we don’t magically become stronger. We fall back on our training and habits. Our training exists to improve those habits before we need them.

  • The breath becomes our anchor.
  • Movement becomes our medicine.
  • The nervous system becomes our greatest performance tool.

The result isn’t simply a longer breath hold.

  • It’s better decisions.
  • Greater resilience.
  • Faster recovery.
  • Improved health.
  • Increased confidence.

And a calmer relationship with pressure itself.

Who is this for?

You don’t need to be a surfer.
You don’t need to be a freediver.
You don’t need to be an elite athlete.

You simply need to be willing to learn. If you want to improve your breathing, resilience, health, recovery or performance, you’ll find your place within the pod. Everyone arrives with a different reason. Everyone leaves more capable.
