APNEANAUTS 4-WEEK IMMERSION
Welcome to the Pod.
Congratulations on taking the first step towards becoming an Apneanaut. Over the next four weeks you’ll immerse yourself in a unique training system designed to develop your breathing, resilience, recovery and ability to perform under pressure. This isn’t simply a collection of training sessions. It’s a progressive immersion that challenges your body, mind and nervous system through deliberate exposure to controlled discomfort in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment. Our philosophy is simple.
Be Your Own Dolphin – Be Harder to Killâ„¢.
Not through force. But through adaptability. Over the course of four weeks you’ll complete 12 progressive training sessions across pool, beach and ocean environments, with each session building upon the last. Together we’ll develop:
- Functional breathing mechanics
- Full Lung Breathingâ„¢
- Breath-hold confidence and efficiency
- Recovery breathing
- Nervous system regulation
- Stress resilience
- Ocean confidence
- Movement efficiency
- Self-awareness and decision-making under pressure
Longer breath holds are simply a by-product. The real goal is to become calmer, more adaptable and more capable—both in the water and in everyday life.
The Immersion Difference
The Apneanauts don’t operate as casual drop-in sessions. They operate as 4-week Immersions. Why? Because meaningful adaptation takes consistency. Whether you’re developing breathing mechanics, breath-hold confidence, nervous system regulation or resilience under pressure, lasting change doesn’t happen in a single session. It happens through repeated exposure, progressive coaching and shared experience within the Pod. Each Immersion has a beginning, a progression and an outcome. Everyone starts together. Everyone grows together. Everyone supports each other along the way.
By training as a committed group, we create stronger coaching, greater accountability and a genuine sense of community that’s difficult to achieve through casual attendance. To maintain the quality of coaching and the culture of the Pod, places in each Immersion are intentionally limited. This isn’t simply a four-week training block. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in a philosophy of human adaptation. To breathe better. Move better. Recover better. Think more clearly. And become progressively Harder to Killâ„¢.
Your First Session
Monday 3 August 2026
Venue
Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre – Indoor Pool
Tweed Heads, NSW
Arrival Time
Please arrive by 5:45am. This allows time to meet the group, prepare your equipment and be in the water, warmed up and ready to commence training promptly at 6:00am. All Apneanauts sessions officially begin at 6:00am, so please arrive 15 minutes early for every session throughout the immersion.
Weekly Schedule
Monday — Pool Session
Develop the foundations through structured breath-hold training, breathing mechanics, movement, recovery and controlled stress exposure.
Tuesday — Beach & Ocean Conditioning – North Kirra Beach (SLSC car park)
Take the lessons beyond the pool with surf-specific movement, breathing retraining, apnea intervals, ocean confidence development and resilience training. No two sessions are ever the same. The ocean determines the lesson.
Thursday — Pool Session
Refine technique, reinforce movement quality and progressively build confidence, capacity and composure under pressure.
Equipment
One of the great things about your first Apneanauts Immersion is that you don’t need to invest in a lot of specialist equipment to get started. We’ll provide all of the specialist training equipment required throughout your first immersion, allowing you to experience the training before deciding what equipment you’d like to purchase for future immersions.
Personal Equipment Required
Please bring the following equipment to every session:
- Swimming goggles
- DaFin body surfing fins
- A wetsuit (for beach and ocean sessions)
- Towel
- Water bottle
- Warm clothing for after training
Why DaFins?
You’ll notice we don’t use traditional long freediving fins. The Apneanauts train in DaFin body surfing fins because they closely reflect the movement demands of surfing and real-world ocean conditions. They’re compact, manoeuvrable, durable and allow us to perform a wide variety of drills that transfer directly to surfing, ocean confidence and functional water skills. They’ve become part of what it means to be an Apneanaut.
Pool Sessions
The Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre indoor pool is heated year-round, so most participants are comfortable training in swimmers alone. If you choose to wear a wetsuit during pool sessions, you’ll also need to bring your own weight belt to counteract the additional buoyancy of your wetsuit.
Specialist Training Equipment
Throughout your first immersion, Apnea Survival will provide all specialist training equipment used during the sessions, including weighted training equipment and other pool-specific equipment. If you decide to continue your Apneanaut journey after your first immersion, we recommend purchasing your own equipment so you’re fully prepared for future training blocks. If you’re unsure about equipment or sizing, don’t worry—we’ll happily guide you through everything during your first few sessions.
Our Commitment
Every session has been carefully designed to challenge you physically, mentally and emotionally while maintaining the highest standards of coaching and safety. Whether you’re a surfer, freediver, athlete or simply someone wanting to become more resilient, you’ll be supported every step of the way. This isn’t about competing against others. It’s about becoming a little more adaptable than you were yesterday. Because becoming Harder to Killâ„¢ isn’t about becoming tougher. It’s about becoming more capable. More resilient. More adaptable.
Welcome to the Pod
Over the next four weeks you’ll discover that this was never really about holding your breath. It’s about discovering who you become when life asks you not to lose it. We’ll see you on pool deck at 5:45am on Monday 3 August. Train with purpose. Support each other. Embrace the challenge. Trust the process.
Please note: You must complete the online Surf Apnea Course and the online medical waiver before attending any training sessions.
We don’t teach people to hold their breath. We teach people to hold themselves together when life takes their breath away.
Be Your Own Dolphin.
